Carlsson Gives the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet more Power and Poise

German aftermarket specialist Carlsson released a new tuning package for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, offering 20 percent more power, a new aero package and interior improvements. All these are available for the E 350 CDI model, whose 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine delivers 231 horsepower out of the box. As expected, Carlsson didn't think that was enough, so it developed the C-Tronic Diesel Power CD28-35 REVO package that consists mainly of ECU remapping.

Mercedes E-Class Cabrio Spy Shot photos

Thanks to Worldcarfans provided the 2011 Mercedes E-Class Cabrio spy shot photos. The soft-top 2011 Mercedes E-Class Cabrio, featuring very little disguise, spotted during an outing somewhere in and around the vicinity of the Nürburgring circuit while conducting some final high-speed testing.

Of course, the E-Class range itself has been out for some months now, so there isn't much need to mask the styling of this particular variant. But still, Mercedes is trying to hide a few design flourishes here to try to maintain at least some mystery to a much anticipated cabrio release.

What Mercedes may also be attempting to keep from view is a new wind protection system, which may end up being a feature of the new model. But previous spy shots have already caught a glimpse of the windscreen-mounted air-deflector before.

Engines expected will be the same as in the E-Class model range. Mercedes still denies AMG versions of the E-Class Cabrio and Coupe models are pending. The E-Class Cabrio model is expected to take its first public bow at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The new Mercedes Benz E-Class W212

Autobild magazine carries the W212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class on its cover. The W211 that it replaces was rather curvy when it first came out but with the facelift you could already have a preview of the route Mercedes-Benz was taking its E-Class - it started having sharper edges and was more in your face rather than subtle and classy.

The new W212 E-Class has a very large and prominent angular 4-louvre grille up front. However square headlamp will be going to replace the classic round eyed design.

We will of course keep you posted as new details of the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class emerge; in the meantime, keep scrolling to see Auto Bild's 2010 Mercedes E-Class photos in their entirety.
